Full Job Description

We are currently recruiting for (1) post at ST6+ Senior Clinical Fellow in Neurosurgery for a six month period in the first instance. Successful applicants will be supported in their broader professional and career development, particularly with reference to CCT and CESR. This would be a good opportunity for the post-holder to develop skills in Neurosurgery in preparation for application to consultant posts. There is a dedicated in-house Consultant-led Neurosurgical teaching programme., 1:6 non-resident general Neurosurgical on-call as a senior fellow supervising an ST3-4 level trainee out of hours

1-2 General Neurosurgical Clinics per week

3 sessions of Elective Neurosurgical operating per week

Inpatient Ward-Rounds

It will be expected that the candidate has prior experience of completing an Audit cycle and will have been involved in one or more quality improvement projects previously. As part of the yearly Appraisal process, they would be strongly encouraged to be actively involved in Clinical Governance within the department during their employment.

There are extensive opportunities to be involved in research whilst in post. The department has a very strong academic record, having been (and is currently) involved in several landmark Neurosurgical studies.

The successful candidate must be GMC registered with a license to practice and prior experience in Neurosurgery or a related discipline (Neurology/Acute Medicine/Critical Care) is welcomed.
