Full Job Description

This post is for a Senior Clinical Fellow in Respiratory Medicine. This is a part-time fixed term post offering an exciting opportunity for a highly motivated Medic to join a dynamic, rapidly expanding team delivering multidisciplinary acute care in Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals., The respiratory department has a total of 29 inpatient beds on one ward 14b. The physician appointed to this post will deliver daily sessions of care to respiratory inpatients on the wards above on a rotational basis. Ward 14b houses the respiratory support unit for up to 6 patients and can provide respiratory support including, NIV, CPAP, and high flow nasal oxygen therapy.

The position will enable the Respiratory Department to continue to develop high quality Respiratory services. The appointee will be expected to have extensive general Respiratory medicine training and experience with competency and subspecialty experience in all aspects of Respiratory condition management. Further sub speciality interest is desirable and will be encouraged.

Applicants must be eligible for full Registration with the GMC at time of appointment.

Our inpatient unit at Newton Community Hospital is where patients needing acute hospital beds can continue rehabilitation, freeing up space for more unwell patients. We also provide urgent care at our Urgent Treatment Centre located in St Helens town centre.

Specialist Regional Services

We provide the Mersey Regional Burns & Plastic Surgery Unit at Whiston Hospital and the Spinal Injuries Unit at Southport Hospital to more than 4 million people across the whole of Merseyside, West Lancashire, Cheshire, Isle of Man and North Wales.
