Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity for a junior doctor with airway experience to join the Intensive Care unit at Chelsea and Westminster Hospital. The position will allow the post holder to cover a number of the areas set out in the Royal College of Anaesthetists recommendations for specialist training in anaesthesia and intensive care. There will be time and opportunity to participate in quality improvement projects research and teaching projects. Opportunities may be available for education/ management qualification. The post will be for the duration of 6 months to start in Feb 2024, extendable by mutual agreement to 12 months. Applicants should be registered with the GMC and have completed Basic Level of Anaesthetic Training or equivalent (ST3+ or Stage 1+ level). Support and advice can be provided for the primary FRCA exam if not obtained and for higher levels of anaesthetics and/or ICM training., Clinical fellows will have exposure to adult general ICU, burns ICU and burns theatres. On-call commitments will be on a 1:8 basis, which will involve covering the ICU registrar (0101) bleep. There is also a junior ICU rota which is staffed by SHOs (1:8) and FY2 rota (1:4). This is a Trust appointed job and not a recognised training post but competencies can be gathered toward higher levels of training should the post holder wish to do so.
