Full Job Description

This is an exciting opportunity to gain experience as O&G Registrar ST3-5 level. The post is based at Queen Elizabeth Hospital site and is a Fixed term post (with a possibility of extension)., The successful candidate will participate in the 1:8 full shift Registrar rota providing cover for both Obstetrics and Gynaecology in a three-tier system. The on-call team includes a Senior House Officer (two SHOs 0800-1700), two registrars and a Consultant. The Consultant is resident from 0800 - 2100 to support high-quality care and outstanding training opportunities. There is a separate dedicated consultant to provide Emergency Gynaecology care 0800 - 1700 Monday to Friday.

There will be opportunities to support the development of specialist skills with variety of clinical sessions including- Antenatal clinics; Elective Caesarean lists; Benign gynaecology clinics; 2WW integrated 1-stop clinics; Outpatient Hysteroscopy; Colposcopy; Myosure and MVA service., 1. Improving representation at senior levels of staff with disabilities, from black, Asian, and ethnic minorities background, identify as LGBTQ+ and women, through improved recruitment and leadership development
2. Widening access (anchor institution) and employability
3. Improving the experience of staff with disability
4. Improving the EDI literacy and confidence of trust staff through training and development
5. Making equalities mainstream

The post is aimed at candidates who are interested in pursuing a career in Obstetrics and Gynecology. Part 1 MRCOG (or equivalent) is essential for those contributing to the rota on a registrar level.

The candidate will be supported to learn not just clinical skills but also encouraged to participate in clinical audits, quality improvement and research projects.

Understanding of service delivery with an NHS environment will be crucial to success, and therefore previous UK experience is required.
