Full Job Description
Under the guidance and support of the lead clinical pharmacists, you will be introduced to core directorate activities of reporting and analysis of medicines expenditure, clinical governance and risk management. You will be responsible for co-developing and improving pharmacy services whilst also providing professional cover and training to junior and pre-registration pharmacists.
Furthermore, the role will provide you with the opportunity to be an integral member of a multidisciplinary team where you can provide support for service development through projects, audits and education. Ongoing learning from specialists and senior pharmacists will offer an abundance of opportunities to improve your knowledge allowing you to attain the required skills for your personal development.
Applicants must be currently registered with the GPhC as a pharmacist and have completed or be close to completion of a clinical postgraduate diploma.
The successful candidate will join a team of enthusiastic senior and rotational pharmacists to enhance their experience in a variety of exciting rotations including Admissions and Cardiology, Frailty with Antibiotics, Frailty with HIV, Surgery and Critical Care, Medicine and Neurology, Specialist Medicine with High Cost Drugs, Paediatrics and Maternity and Formulary experience

5. Making equalities mainstream, 4. Job Purpose: To deliver, develop and evaluate clinical pharmacy services to the named Trust directorate and act as a key member of the team in accordance with the objectives set between the Principal Pharmacist, Clinical Services and the Lead Pharmacists.
To develop skills, knowledge and experience needed to become a lead clinical pharmacist.
5.1 Accountable to: Director of Pharmacy Clinical Services Manager
5.2 Responsible to: Lead Pharmacist (dependent on rotation)
5.3 Supervises: Junior pharmacists / Trainee Pharmacists / Ward-Based Pharmacy Technicians / Undergraduate Pharmacy Students
5.4 Liaises with: All Pharmacy staff
Clinical staff on ward and specialist out-patient areas
Medical and Nursing staff
All directorates
Other Healthcare Professionals, Clinical Practice
6.1.1 To provide and develop clinical pharmacy services to the named directorate to promote
safe, clinically effective and cost effective prescribing and use of medicines.
6.1.2 To ensure the quality of patient care.
6.1.3 To deputise for the Lead Pharmacist(s) in their absence.
6.1.4 To support the ward based technicians in developing methods of improving medicines management to the directorates.
6.1.5 To assist with the production / updating of local clinical guidelines relevant to the directorate.
6.1.6 To participate in clinical and departmental audits, measure adherence to local and national guidelines and provide feedback to staff. High quality care for every patient, every day.
6.1.7 To participate in relevant ward rounds in order to make pro-active interventions on drug related issues.
6.1.8 To follow legal, ethical, professional and employers codes of conduct.
6.2 Education and Training
6.2.1 To act as a tutor and educational facilitator for the Postgraduate Diploma in General Pharmacy Practice.
6.2.2 To provide support when required for junior and Trainee Pharmacists during their rotations including provision of information, informal teaching and assessment of Trainee and Diploma competencies in General Pharmacy Practice.
6.2.3 To provide teaching and training sessions on pharmacy related issues to pharmacy, ward and clinical staff.
