Full Job Description
The successful candidate will work with the Community Eating Disorder Service (CEDS) which includes psychiatry, dietetics, eating disorder practitioners (nurses, OT's and social workers) and an assistant and trainee psychologist. The team works in close partnership with the Specialist Child and Adolescent Mental Health pathway, and dedicated Children's crisis service. Alongside regular liaison with GP's, acute wards, Tier 4 services, and other regional services and providers. The North Cumbria CYPS services pride themselves on delivering high-quality NICE-compliant therapeutic care to patients and families. The CYPS service and CEDS pathway has a strong development culture and seeks learning and leadership opportunities for its team members at all levels, including actively encouraging the development and promotion of the service through various initiatives. There is a robust supervision culture, and the service regularly seeks out creative projects and opportunities for co-production with the communities it serves. We are also involved in teaching and shared learning within our partnerships, including working with universities and their psychology trainees. Main duties of the job You will be a Senior Psychologist in an established multi-disciplinary team. You will be responsible for providing high quality evidence based psychological assessments, formulations and therapy to children, young people (up to the age of 18), and their families. You will be responsible for leading on psychological provision through consultations, MDTs, and supervision. You will provide advice, consultation and training to colleagues, and to other non-professional carers, on psychological aspects of assessment, formulation, care and treatment. You will support service development through audit and research. In this role you will work autonomously within professional guidelines and the overall framework of the service's policies and procedures. We believe in the value of supervision you will be responsible for providing supervision to Psychologists, Trainee and Assistant Psychologist, and CYPs Clinicians. You will also receive your own regular supervision and CPD opportunities. An exciting development opportunity has arisen for a highly motivated and enthusiastic Senior Clinical Psychologist with an interest in working with children and young people with eating disorders within our Children and Young Peoples mental health service in North Cumbria., Doctoral level training in clinical psychology, including specifically models of psychopathology, clinical psychometrics and Neuropsychology, two or more distinct psychological therapies and lifespan developmental psychology as accredited by the HCPC and British Psychological Society. - HCPC registered practitioner psychologist, Skills in managing emotional impact of dealing with highly emotive and distressing situations through self-management and use of the clinical supervision process.
- Specialist skills in evidence based psychological interventions.
- Skills in the use of complex methods of psychological assessment, intervention and management.
- Skills in providing clinical supervision and consultation to other professional and non-professional groups., Knowledge of the theory and practice of specialist psychological therapies in specific difficult to treat groups relevant to the client group
- Well-developed skills in the ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing, complex, highly technical and/or clinical sensitive information to clients, their family, carers and other professional colleagues both within and outside the NHS.
- Doctoral level knowledge of research methodology, research design and complex multivariable data analysis as practiced within the clinical fields of psychology.
- Evidence of continuing professional development as required by the HCPC. Desirable criteria
