A Vacancy at York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust. We were delighted to be chosen as one of seven national pilot projects for integrating mental health support into children and young people's epilepsy care. This innovative project, which began in March 2023, is focused on the implementation of mental health screening and psychological intervention for children and young people in our region. The project seeks tomake a real change for children and young people with epilepsy across our ICS and we are looking for a Clinical Psychologist with a passion for driving change and innovation who can continue the valuable work that has been started on this project (newly qualified Psychologists with strong leadership skills would also be considered for this position). You would be working within a team of experienced Clinical Psychologists based at York Hospital. Integral to the post is networking with of CYP services across the ICS. The successful post holder will also hold a clinical caseload to support the wider remit of the paediatric psychology service. The focus of the role is to continue embedding the screening and psychological interventions into routine practice and to support the evaluation of the project through data collection and reporting.

To provide a qualified Clinical Psychology Service to children and young people with Epilepsy and their families.

  • To provide specialist psychological advice, guidance and consultation to other professionals contributing to patients' formulation, diagnosis, and treatment plans
  • Using research skills for audit, policy and service development and leading on research projects
  • To maintain up to date knowledge of legislation, national and local policies and issues in relation to the specific patient group, mental health, clinical paediatric psychology, health psychology and neuropsychology in general
  • To maintain the highest standards of clinical record keeping including electronic data entry, recording, report writing
  • Working within professional guidelines, overall frameworks and policies and procedures for Psychology in Child Health.
