Are you an experienced Clinical Scientist with a passion for delivering high quality treatment planning and brachytherapy services? Staff wellbeing is important to us and as such we offer senior staff a 9-day fortnight working pattern with a fixed day off every two weeks, as well as the opportunity to work from home for part of your time, The successful candidate will provide scientific support at Medical Physics Expert level within the radiotherapy service. They will specialize in two areas out of the following, with the detail to be agreed between the successful candidate and appointing manager: Treatment Planning; Brachytherapy; Dosimetry & QA. There will be opportunities to contribute to developments and clinical research to enable continuing implementation and expansion of state-of-the-art techniques. Candidates with at least 2 years operating at MPE level will also be offered the opportunity to undertake a lead role within the department, assuming managerial responsibility for an aspect of the service., The postholder is responsible for:
Specialising in two of the following areas:
o Contributing to the provision and development of the Brachytherapy I-125 seeds and HDR services, and the contact radiotherapy service (see 3.1).
o Contributing to the provision and development of the Radiotherapy Treatment Planning service (see 3.2).
o Contributing to the provision and development of the Radiation Dosimetry and Quality Assurance service (see 3.3).
· Providing senior scientific support within the radiotherapy physics service, when required, acting as a Medical Physics Expert under the Ionising Radiation (Medical Exposure) Regulations 2017 (IRMER2017) within their scope of practice.
· Participating in the research and development activities of the department
· Participating in teaching, training and staff development
Based at Guildford, working on two sites (Guildford and Redhill) is required. Secondment to the satellite unit will normally be less than 25% of working time. The postholder will work flexibly to accommodate clinical need within the hours of 07:00 to 20:00, including bank holiday and weekend working as required.
