Full Job Description

As Senior Commercial Finance Analyst you will join as a key member of our experienced sales and marketing team, reporting directly to our Sales & Marketing Director. You will be responsible for ensuring that we maximise commercial opportunities across both new business, our existing client base, and service line portfolios. Having strong financial analysis capabilities and excellent commercial awareness, combined with your natural ability to build strong relationships across the business, and externally with clients, you will play a key role in delivering profitable customer acquisition and growth.Role objectives

  • Managing, owning and further developing the business units' commercial models for new business opportunities, product pricing, contract completion, variations and renewals in order to achieve targeted financial metrics
  • Providing support to operational colleagues with regards contractual commercial requirements, and any related commercial implications of non-performance
  • Providing commercial governance and input as required on business initiatives, such as new service line development
  • Acting as key commercial interface across client accounts on commercial issues
  • Providing timely and accurate management information to the Executive team, and other colleagues, to drive effective commercial decision making
  • Undertaking client/service line profitability analysis, providing recommendations as required
  • To work closely with the Bid and Prospecting sales teams to review and identify commercial risk with potential new clients
  • Providing commercial input into financial target setting and subsequent reviews
  • Creating, maintaining and enforcing policies, procedures and governance to manage client commercial risk
  • To review and continuously improve the commercial engine/model, to support semi automation, commercial risk reduction, and auditable agility - all of which will support an improved win rate
  • Providing commercial insight and proposing responses to market and competitor activity, including pricing adjustments

    Educated to degree level and/or substantial experience in a similar commercial role, with a demonstrable track record of driving business performance
  • Excellent numerical and communication skills
  • Robust, detailed approach to commercial modelling, including product/service line pricing and client profitability modelling
  • Computer literate including working knowledge of MS packages. Advanced knowledge of Excel i.e.: look-ups, pivot tables and reporting
  • A high degree of financial, commercial and client awareness
  • A demonstrable understanding of commercial contract law, enabling a triage view of new contracts, alongside supporting the relationships with legal professionals
  • A quick learner, with the ability to look at existing commercial and operational processes to implement improvement and risk reduction initiatives
  • Ability to thrive in a fast paced and dynamic environment
  • Able to work on your own initiative as well as a strong team player
  • Ability to think ahead, identify new commercial opportunities and support the development of new initiatives
