Following on from the success of Hinkley Point C (HPC), the SZC Project is a nuclear new build project in Suffolk, which has obtained planning approval and Government financing support. The project has started construction and is now seeking private investment. When completed, it will provide dependable electricity to 6 million homes for 60 years, which along with renewables, will support Britain to achieve Net Zero by 2050. We have a fantastic opportunity for a Senior Commercial Manager in our Equipment team at Sizewell C (SZC). This is a great time to join an exciting project.
Our teams are set up to work flexibly, with a hybrid working approach between our offices and your home. We provide a full suite of IT equipment to ensure that our employees can work from home comfortably and effectively.
The Role
You'll be a primary point of commercial contact on the contracts assigned to you and will be required to work closely and pro-actively with the other stakeholders at all levels and across all the teams within SZC to ensure that the requirements of the individual contracts and their impact upon the overall SZC Project are successfully delivered.
You'll lead the day-to-day management of Commercial Managers and Assistants.
You'll ensure all Principal Accountabilities for the contract commercial team are implemented in accordance with SZC commercial procedures.
You'll identify, define, and manage risks associated with either Contract Delivery or the Supplier and its Supply Chain.
You'll have effective commercial / contract management skills, with clear knowledge of best practice contract methodologies.
You'll be able to demonstrate a considerable track record of administering successful contracts.
You'll have highly developed commercial skills and demonstrable ability to make sound decisions on matters of significant financial value.
You'll be a member of the RICS / CICES / IOB or equivalent professional body.
You'll also have a track record with most common Forms of Contract (NEC & FIDIC) within the power construction industry and major projects and programme environment; with particular knowledge of UK Law and its impact upon the contract and commercial function.
