The MoJ is a major government department, at the heart of the justice system. Responsible for courts, prisons and probation services. You would be joining a high performing Commercial Directorate with one of the largest and most complex spend profiles in central government. CCMD is responsible for coordinating procurement and contract management across the MoJ, its agencies and non-departmental public bodies.
The MoJ spends £3.5bn a year and manages over 1000 active contracts, all of which are sourced and managed by CCMD. The scope of our contracts range from building, maintenance and the operation of Prisons, Courts and Young Offender establishments through to food for prison dogs. The directorate also buys and manages contracts for feeding up to 80,000 prisoners, the secure escorting of prisoners from numerous establishments based around the country and translation services.
This role is responsible for leading the Financial Services team within the Core Services portfolio which also incorporates Corporate and People services.
Financial Services is a busy category covering a wide range of contracts, including high-profile and critical Gold contracts and a selection of Silver and Bronze Contracts. These contracts need proactive management in collaboration with the Ministry’s operational contract management teams. The team manages annual Contract spend in excess of £100m, investments in excess of £250m and supports income collected from Fines/Fees in excess of £600m
The Financial Services team are responsible for the procurement and management of 25 contracts in total (including 4 critical Gold Contracts) across a range of Financial Services including Investments, Payment Acceptance, Payment Solutions, Insurance, Claims and Compensation, Pensions and Banking Services. As the Senior Commercial Manager you will be responsible for the leadership and management of a team of 6 staff.
Locations, As a Senior Commercial Manager you will deliver strategic commercial leadership and support the team and the Commercial Managers to deliver procurement and contract management activities to achieve commercial outcomes across the business.
Working within a fast-paced environment, you will bring excellent communication and organisational skills to ensure contracts are working effectively, and stakeholder relationships are managed appropriately. The category involves working with a wide and diverse set of stakeholders and suppliers and some niche markets
The job holder will be required to undertake the following duties and responsibilities:
+ Leading the delivery of the Financial Service Category supporting the Ministry of Justice and it’s public bodies;
+ Developing and nurturing relationships with senior business stakeholders;
+ Providing excellent leadership to the Financial Services team;
+ Delivering strategic sourcing advice and guidance on call-off competitions and other routes to market;
+ Continually driving efficiencies in delivery, developing processes and new ways of working within the team
