Senior Cost Engineer

JLR currently have an exciting new opportunity for an experience Senior Cost Engineer with a strong understanding of engineering and manufacturing processes to join their finance team which sits within their industry leading Powertrain and Propulsion Department. The team's main business goal is empowering the business to achieve cost effective solutions by providing robust cost analysis, including: 'Should Cost' estimates, vehicle cost target setting, Value Analysis/Value Engineering (VA/VE), design optimisation and driving supplier negotiations. Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

• Deliver robust detailed and directional Should Costs (estimates) within Powertrain and Propulsion.
• Lead initiatives to identify commodity cost saving opportunities within the JLR supply chain.
• To participate in the process of supplier selection and supplier strategy planning and drive commercial and lead technical negotiations to deliver cost gap closure.
• Influence Product Development with Design-for-Manufacture/Cost advice and cost estimates.
• Advise Product Development on design change cost impact.
WHAT YOU'LL NEED
• Experience in 'Should Cost Analysis' performing all Cost Estimating duties ensuring conformity to departmental procedures and processes, involving both detailed and directional costings.
• Value Analysis and Value engineering (VAVE). Providing expert technical and cost direction to Programme teams, including competitor benchmarking, cost down workshops, tear down activities, cost target setting, cost gap closure.
• Supplier Review - Use technical and commercial expertise to review, validate and drive Best Practice in supplier processes. Take a lead role within the Matched Trio: To support supplier selection activities, production of the Quotation Request (RFQ), Quotation analysis (QAF) review, process modelling and verification.
• Cost Engineering Support - Undertake Value for Money (VFM) assessments for design changes. Review supplier claims for material and economic cost deviations. Supplier QAF analysis. Assist and advise Product Development on cost impact of design alternatives.
• Cost Negotiation - Driving supplier negotiations, both within and in addition to cross functional team activities at: The tendering process, engineering design changes and supplier claims.
