We are seeking two Senior Data Managers to be a part of a cohesive team responsible for delivering effective data services supporting public health delivery. Specifically, this will involve arranging to receive data in various formats and providing access to meet the needs of local and national stakeholders. You will lead the delivery of data management work on a wide range of public health priority topics driven by the needs of internal UKHSA colleagues and external stakeholders and you will support Surveillance Services and wider Data Operations work programmes. Your role will include data management, production & support of automated pipelines and standard operating procedures, dynamic quality assurance of data (i.e. data quality dashboards), as well as supporting the provision of training and translational support so that stakeholders can understand how to use the data.   • Supporting surveillance data management within the UKHSA Second Generation Surveillance System (SGSS) and the wider division.
  • Provide expert advice and support across a range of public health data.
  • Planning, managing, and delivering on a range of projects requiring potentially complex analytic input, including negotiating, and agreeing the most appropriate data output, initiating and planning workloads and setting delivery timescales.
  • Supporting the data management work of other members of the surveillance data team.
  • Use and develop database queries to undertake complex analysis.
  • Check for data anomalies prior to and during processing of data, considering corrective action or bringing to the attention of senior colleagues as required.
  • Carry out quality assurance of other data management work. Take a lead in developing and promoting quality assurance procedures.
  • Ensure Information Governance (IG) requirements are in place.
  • Production of standard operating procedures and reproducible pipelines.
  • Exercise judgement when developing processes to deal with data quality and security, especially where the data is sensitive and may be contentious.
  • Have expertise in presenting solutions to internal and external colleagues at all levels.
  • Attending local and national meetings, either virtually or in-person with key stakeholders including the surveillance data team, wider divisional colleagues, health protection colleagues, and partner organisations for the UK Health Security Agency

The post holders will develop working relationships and communicate clearly and regularly with a wide range of individuals, clinical and non-clinical, internal, and external to UKHSA. External The Data, Analytics and Surveillance role is to support the data and analytical needs of the local and national health protection system.
