Full Job Description

To undertake the duties of a specialist grade (Band 6) dental technician to clinical prescription producing dental technical restorations related to fixed prosthodontics. The vast majority of the work of this post holder will be the construction of complex and highly complex fixed prosthodontic restorations with some implant supported restorations., Our new strategy, developed with the support and feedback of colleagues, patients, and partners, is our compass for the next seven years (2023-2030).

+ To perform a broad range of techniques associated with restorative dentistry including single and multiple unit implant supported crown and bridge restorations for clinical staff. This will include the production of high quality restorations, Gold crowns/inlays, Post and cores, Metal ceramic crowns, All ceramic crowns, Bridges (conventional, fixed-movable and minimal preparation), Veneers.
+ To construct complex and non-routine crown & bridge appliances and prostheses to resolve patient problems, with shade taking in surgery on a daily basis. You will also be required to construct a range of prosthetic dentures, splints and radiographic stents.
+ To be proficient in the production of the above mentioned items the post holder will need to be familiar with the use of porcelain and composite materials as well as cast dental alloys.
+ To be familiar in the use of milling and production of customised abutments for implant cases. To be familiar with CAD/CAM technology.
+ To provide diagnostic functional waxing in the planning, temporization and fabrication of restorations. Functional occlusion and the use of Denar articulators using face bows and occlusal records. To produce high quality study and working models, and to be involved in the preparation of teaching materials for lectures and demonstration purposes.
+ Ensure the cleanliness and tidiness of own work areas plus have responsibility for specific items of laboratory equipment and report defects in need of remedy to the Lead Technician.
+ Ensure safe working practice and implementation of COSHH and other regulations, in accordance with the relevant code of practice of the Department. Be mindful of his/her own actions as they affect the safety of others.
+ To maintain self development by keeping abreast of new technologies within the field, and under take general care and minor routine maintenance of equipment and identify maintenance requirements of the laboratory equipment.

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
