Full Job Description

Joining our small DevOps team you will provide senior expertise in working on the design, build, support and improvement of our AWS infrastructure. You will work with our development, infosec and product teams to help make the most out of cloud technologies / automation, to deliver stability, scalability and value.

Key Responsibilities

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Provide technical expertise to the DevOps and other teams to guide and support the engineers with technical challenges, strategic and tactical direction


  • Collaborate with stakeholders and teams to find common pain points and address them with the DevOps engineers


  • Provide input on ways to improve the stability, security, efficiency, scalability and cost of the environments


  • Proactively support, maintain, and develop our AWS infrastructure to maintain a highly available 24x7x365 service for our customers


  • Ensure mission critical platforms and services are always operational


  • Maintain best practices on managing systems and services across all environments


  • Fault finding, analysis and of logging information for reporting of performance exceptions


  • Proactively monitor system performance and capacity planning


  • Write scripts, build tools, and automate common processes


  • Investigate alerts raised from security systems and escalate to our Security Operations Centre where necessary

    Previous working experience with Amazon Web Services (AWS) - particularly Cloudformation, EC2, ECS, ECR, VPC, RDS, Eventbridge & Cloudwatch


  • Solid practical knowledge and experience with Docker


  • Solid practical knowledge and experience with Docker Swarm


  • Experience running applications at scale, especially horizontally scaled systems and/or distributed systems


  • Previous working experience with Continuous Integrations (CI) Services, ideally GitHub Actions


  • Excellent understanding of Jira, sprints, Kanban, and workload planning


  • Experience with monitoring and alerting toolchains, particularly Grafana + Prometheus


  • Web server configuration for Apache & nginx


  • Demonstrable knowledge and practical hands-on experience of Linux systems


  • Working knowledge of bash, python & PHP


  • Strong problem-solving skills


  • Excellent communication skills, able to communicate effectively in all areas of the business


  • Desirable Experience
  • AWS certifications desirable but not mandatory

    Job Type: Full-time

    Pay: £45,000.00-£60,000.00 per year
