Full Job Description
We have an excellent opportunity available for a Senior EHC Casework Officer, who understands Post 16 / Preparation for Adulthood to join our supportive SEND team. You will play an integral part in ensuring the efficient and effective delivery of the statutory functions of the local authority, in respect of children and young people with SEND aged 14-25, with EHC Plan
Whilst this is a busy and demanding post, you will be working with an established, experienced, and supportive senior leadership team, you will have opportunities to extend your skills. Kent County Council have a commitment to continuous professional development in our service.
You will oversee a team responsible for discharging the Local Authority's statutory functions in relation to the Annual Review and phase transfer processes as well the day-to-day duties associated with arranging provision for children and young people within the East Kent Area, This is a County-wide role. Please note the successful candidate will spend at least 2-days per week working in a local office, flexibly working from home throughout the rest of the week. The post holder will also undertake meetings in educational settings, other organisations, and Local Authority premises across Kent.
To be considered for this role, you should have an excellent understanding of SEN legislation, specifically SEN Code of Practice (2014), Children and Family Act (2014) and Disability Discrimination Act (1995) and its application within the context of Kent, as well we a comprehensive understanding of guidance, and best practice in relation to Post-16 and PFA, FE and other Post-16 providers, including work related programmes.
You will also have sound knowledge of IT and excellent communication (both verbal and written) skills. You will understand the importance of maintaining an elevated level of accuracy and confidentiality in your work and be confident in data processing, data integration and data analytics.
