Full Job Description

Responsibilities include:

  • Lead and manage the electrical design process for hyperscalers, developers and colocation providers, ensuring all designs meet industry standards and client specifications.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to integrate electrical systems with other engineering disciplines.
  • Develop detailed electrical designs, including UPS, Generators, power distribution, lighting, fire alarm systems, and security systems.
  • Conduct site inspections and assessments worldwide to ensure compliance with design specifications and safety standards.
  • Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers and other team members.
  • Prepare and present project documentation, reports, and design calculations.
  • Coordinate with clients, stakeholders, and project managers to deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Interpreting, applying, and providing direction for complex engineering deliverables. Typically supports multiple projects on complex technical challenges.
  • Ensures policies, procedures, and processes are effectively developed, implemented, and communicated.
  • Supports project team in the identification of key client interests and drivers on projects.
  • Responsible for the development and/or approval of complex engineering calculations.
  • Manages assigned budget, schedule and quality requirements.
  • Focusing on the Electrical Engineering staff, liaises with the EMEA Resource Manager to:
  • oversee performance management, career planning, recognition, learning and development; and to
  • participate in succession planning, employee relations and workforce & resource planning.
  • Coordinates with global Electrical discipline leadership to:
  • Balance EMEA Electrical staff needs and global supporting staff needs for projects in EMEA
  • Identify staff development needs while leveraging global subject matter expertise within Black & Veatch to optimize electrical qualifications and knowledge sharing.

    Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering or related field.
  • Chartered Engineer status (or working towards).
  • Extensive experience in electrical design engineering in a UK based consultancy, with a focus on data centre projects. (Other critical systems design experience will be considered). Experience in other EMEA regions is desirable.
  • Proficiency in using design software such as Dialux, Amtech and ETAP
  • Strong understanding of relevant industry codes, standards, and regulations.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Willingness to travel internationally as required.
