The roles focuses on providing comprehensive advice on a wide range of employment matters including employee relations. We are looking for dynamic and proactive HR practitioners to join our fantastic People services team supporting a range of Clinical and Corporate services across our Trust, ensuring the provision of a high quality and effective HR service to support and drive continuous and improved performance. A key element of these roles it to provide leadership and direction to the team . supporting complex cases, provide mentoring, and developing training.
The Senior ER Advisor roles have an opportunity to develop in a broad generalist portfolio within a complex NHS Trust, To provide advice and support to the specified Departments and Clinical Management Groups on the full range of People Services issues, to enable them to fulfil the principles of good HR Management.
To provide managers and staff with professional, comprehensive and timely advice and support, ensuring that the service provided is consistent with defined quality standards.
To provide advice across the range of complex People Services issues, including employee relations, change management and organisational development, developing excellent working relationships with divisional/directorate managers and supporting them to meet their key workforce indicators .
Responsible for day to day supervision of ER Advisers ensuring that advice provided is legally compliant and organisational change adheres to the relevant policies, procedures and protocols., + Provide line-managers, and staff with professional, comprehensive and timely advice and support on complex issues including but not confined to employee relations matters such as sickness management, performance management, resolution, harassment and bullying, disciplinary issues, management of change and TUPE, with minimal supervision ensuring that organisational and legislative requirements are met and standards of good practice are maintained
+ Advise and assist both managers and employees in informal and formal resolution of grievances in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.
+ Advise and assist managers at all stages of the disciplinary process including informal and formal resolution of cases. This will include conducting suspension meetings, carrying out investigations with line managers, production of investigation reports, liaising with staff side, preparation of management cases, presentation of management cases at hearings, preparation and presentation of appeal cases. The post holder will work under the supervision of their line manager when dealing with complex disciplinary issues.
+ Represent People Services on panels to consider ill-health, resolution, performance and disciplinary issues and on appeal panels as appropriate, providing advice on procedural, legislative and employee relations implications of cases.
+ Provide advice and assistance to managers and employees with issues relating to harassment and bullying, including both informal and formal resolution of cases in accordance with the relevant policies and procedures.
+ Provide advice and support to managers on management of change issues including advising managers on restructuring, redeployment etc carrying out collective and individual consultations, at risk meetings, advising on redundancy matters and entitlement including redundancy pay, with minimal supervision.
+ Provide People Services representation at meetings regarding employee relations issues relating to individuals, some of which will require communication of complex and sensitive information in an emotive atmosphere and in all cases accurate recording of the meeting.
+ Develop and maintain good working relationships with partners e.g. payroll provider, Occupational Health etc to support delivery of contracts
+ Liaise with internal and external agencies as appropriate in dealing with queries and issues relating to staff.
Workforce Planning
+ Work with the Workforce Information team to ensure that relevant workforce data is available to managers, and is used to inform management decision-making and improve the division's performance in relation to People Services key performance indicators
+ Analyse data, producing reports to deliver the people management agenda within the Trust.
Policies and Procedures
+ Actively contribute to and, where required, lead on the development of new policies, procedures and practices and review in line with legislation, current best practice and NHS requirements.
+ Advise managers on the effective implementation of People Services policies and procedures within the organisation, ensuring that policies and procedures are consistently and appropriately applied.
+ Participate in "due regard" assessment of policies and procedures.
+ Actively contribute to and take the initiative in designing, implementing and evaluating processes, systems and procedures which improve practice.
Staff involvement and engagement
+ Proactively work with managers and staff side representatives to develop and promote a culture of healthy employee relations, effective partnership working, staff involvement and engagement.
+ Assist managers to engage with staff, promoting the benefits to be gained from open, honest and timely staff engagement
Training and Development
+ Design, develop and deliver training programmes on relevant People Services issues.
Participate in training initiatives designed to raise manager's awareness and competency in HR related issues within the organisation; this includes developing, designing and delivering the training programmes.
+ Coach managers to develop their people management skills and improve their confidence in dealing with complex issues.
Line Management
+ Effectively supervise ER Advisers supporting them to deliver their individual and corporate objectives.
+ Mentor and coach ER Advisers to develop their expertise and support their continuing professional development

Disclosure and Barring Service Check
Please note if you are successful in obtaining this position and the post involves regulated activity you will be required to undertake a Disclosure & Barring Service check.
The Trust will pay for the check initially and the money will then be deducted from your salary over a three month period commencing on your first month's payment.
The current price of a check is £38 for an enhanced and £18 for a standard check.
