Within the Technology directorate, the Financial Systems Solutions (FSS) domain develop and maintain the Bank of England's financial and integration platforms to facilitate payments, settlement and collateral management across the United Kingdom. The Markets and Collateral Operations team has responsibility for developing and supporting applications used by the Markets and Banking areas of the Bank. These systems are at the core of the Bank's critical financial transactional operations and the team provides a support service to ensure service protection. Job Description The key areas of responsibility will be: Delivery of secure software components; providing input into the estimation and planning process; refining requirements together with business users and/or technical analysts; designing and developing software using agreed methodologies, processes and standards; improving development by the use of appropriate tools; taking part in all stages of the test cycle; managing and rectifying software issues; managing their own code within test environments and deploying software Providing post implementation support; delivering agreed change requests and rectifying errors. Become part of daily support rota covering the live activity for which the team is responsible. There is a requirement for a certain amount of evening and weekend work. Playing an active part in the Markets and Collateral Operations Team's activities; supporting colleagues, sharing their technical knowledge with colleagues, reviewing team member's work; assisting in the continuous improvement of development processes, methods and standards., employees in the recruitment process where they're needed. For most roles where work can be carried out at home, we aim for colleagues to spend half of their time in the office, with a minimum of 40% per month. Salary and Benefits InformationWe encourage flexible working, part time working and job share arrangements. Part time salary and benefits will be on a pro-rated basis as appropriate. This role offers a salary of circa:Leeds ranging from £46,720 - £53,910.London ranging from: £51,870 - £59,850In addition, we also offer a comprehensive benefits package as detailed below:

  • In depth experience (at least 8 years) of languages, methods and tools relating to the team's area of responsibility including C#, .NET 6 or higher, web application and API development, JavaScript, React, SQL Server and Azure technologies
  • Good understanding and familiarity with the full software development lifecycle and different software development models.
  • Good understanding of technical architectures.
  • In depth experience of tools that support the development process. This should include Git, Visual Studio, Team Foundation Server and SQL Server Management Studio.
  • A level of software testing experience sufficient to participate in test activities including unit testing, system testing and user acceptance test support.
  • Experience of Agile methods for software delivery.
  • Ability to demonstrate a high level of integrity, organisation, self-motivation, and a desire for self-improvement.
  • Understand good team practice and the ability to work with others sharing their knowledge/experience when appropriate.
  • Good interpersonal communication skills with an ability to interpret and present information to a variety of recipients using suitable modes of communication.
  • Ability to produce concise, informative documentation.
  • A consistent track record of forming and maintaining positive relationships with business colleagues.
  • Desirable Criteria
  • Knowledge of typescript, MVC, IIS, SQL Server Integration services and SQL Server Reporting Services would be advantageous.
  • Familiarity with ITIL or similar service management approaches.
