Full Job Description

Supporting the motors & drives product range for aircraft fuel and hydraulic systems solutions through the design, development, qualification and verification process. Typical products include electric motors, transformers & solenoids for a variety of civil & military aerospace applications.

  • Develop electrical motors through requirements using both analytical and numerical tools (e.g. Ansys Maxwell 2D & 3D), accurately and efficiently to tight timescales.
  • Understanding of material selections and knowledge of manufacturing processes for electrical machines (Induction, Brushed, Brushless DC motors and transformers) and associated controllers are essential to the role.
  • Prepare and review technical documentation (engineering proposals, performance specifications, technical reports and papers) in accordance with company procedures relating to all products that fall under motors product range.
  • Review/analyze development test data against requirements and analysis models.Lead failure investigations associated to Motors products conducting failure and root cause analysis and associated investigations to a structured process.
  • Excellent organizational & communication skills are of particular importance, as the role will involve working across the business, with various engineering groups including mechanical, electrical and electronics, manufacturing engineering, supply chain and production.
  • Understanding of aerospace standards & electrical aircraft systems is desirable, but not essential. Typical products include electric motors, actuators, solenoids and transformers for a variety of civil & military aerospace applications.
  • Keep informed on trends and developments within specialty or general area of activity and participate in knowledge exchange sessions within the wider company.

    Previous experience working in a safety critical electronics arena, such as aerospace, automotive, rail or nuclear industry would be advantageous, although applicants from other high technology engineering backgrounds will be considered., University/college degree or equivalent
  • 5 years of relevant experience
  • Skills:
  • Knowledge of Motors Design from requirements through to production utilizing a working knowledge of Lumped Parameter and Electromagnetic FE design tools for theoretical motor performance simulation (e.g. Ansys Maxwell 2D & 3D)
  • Knowledge of motor manufacturing and test processes will be required to support the production of the designs
  • Communications skills - both verbal and written with ability to generate and communicate clear status reports.
  • Strong task management skills with good prioritization and time management
  • On time delivery of assigned tasks
