The estimator role will ensure that target cost plans are robust, integrated, represent value for money, and are supported by consistent internal and external benchmarking date.

Responsible for the preparation of accurate and auditable detailed estimates either in support of senior colleague and or less complex projects as the lead estimator.

Presents relevant elements of the estimate to stakeholders.

You'll be responsible for :

Producing detailed estimates in a timely and efficient manner, based on bills of quantities / take-off and activity-based costs.

Establishing and maintaining relationships with the client, contractors and suppliers

Agreeing resourcing levels against programme.

Assessing the risk levels associated with the project.

Production of the tender settlement book and presenting to the Directors for sign off.

Resolving post tender queries

Updating Mace and Heathrow benchmarking data

The role holder should be educated to degree level or equivalent commercial experience.

Sound knowledge of the typical industry contract forms, in particular NEC, and procurement routes.

Airport experience would be advantageous but not essential.

Ability to build excellent relationships with clients, design teams and stakeholders.

Highly numerate, accurate and focused on detail.

Cost planning experience.

Knowledge of bluebeam or similar measurement software packages

Ability to measure and provide simple bills of quantities for enquiries.

Good negotiation skills.

Good working knowledge of building methodology.

The capability to be self-reliant able to work on own initiative.

Ability to price for first principals.

Strong organisation skills.

Excellent oral and written communication skills.

Influencing skills.

Effective stakeholder management and great interpersonal skills.

The ability to work to tight deadlines and prioritise own workloads.

Capability to see opportunities, challenge when necessary and passion for improvement.

You'll also have :

MCIOB / RICS qualified or working towards

Knowledge of estimating systems.

Knowledge of construction.

Understanding & knowledge of construction techniques & costs within sector.

Experience of CAD or PDF based measurement software.

Understanding of procurement and contracting alternatives.

Good presentational skills.

Understands how an estimate is put together.

Understanding of cost breakdown structure (CBS) & work breakdown structure (WBS).

Excellent Excel skills.

Experience of working as an estimator within the construction industry.

Familiar with sector method of measurement.

Understanding & Knowledge of the sector.

Works proactively within teams.

Champions the use of new technology.

Coordinates with functional peers.

Supports bid work.

Develops and maintains a series of internal and external stakeholder / colleague relationships.

Maintains and manages client / stakeholder at business / project level.

Coordinates and liaises with clients & key stakeholders.

Ability to liaise with and influence leadership roles.

Assists in planning and organising work in area.

Ability to work independently and to tight timescales to achieve KPIs and strategic outcomes.
