Full Job Description

At Currys we technically confirm that branded products placed on the market through Currys are safe. We develop and maintain a risk assessment database to determine the risk level of each product type and each supplier based on performance and history., We have an exciting opportunity for a Senior Evaluation Engineer to play a key role by in setting priority levels for each product and determining the level of testing required. You'll oversee daily activities including setting priorities and promoting continuous improvement as well as carrying out documentation checks and evaluations across a wide range of product types, providing structured feedback to the Heads of Category. Role overview: As part of this role, you'll be responsible for:

  • Developing and continually evolving a structured evaluation process for each product type and trust level based on risk and performance history
  • Carefully managing the workload for the Branded Evaluation team to ensure there is no impact on the product time to market
  • Developing and maintaining a risk assessment database to identify the risk level for each product subcategory and supplier rating to determine the risk to the business and the end user
  • Having a good understanding of the safety regulations for each product category. Quickly researching requirements for new categories and add requirements to the evaluation process
  • Providing factual information based on experience relating to legal compliance of products and influence commercial teams on non-legal product performance issues

    Significant experience of product development, safety requirements and quality management procedures
  • Having a thorough knowledge and understanding of product safety and the technical skills to support decision making
  • Good understanding of current and developing technologies
  • Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal
  • Experience within a production/manufacturing environment would be advantageous
  • Familiarity with product design methodologies such as a life cycle modelling and cost management (desirable)
