We are looking to recruit a Senior Events and Catering Porter to join our busy Team who run events across a wide range of venues located within the South Kensington Campus and other off-site Campuses. The department aims to provide affordable and high-quality food and services for the Imperial College community.

The role will involve assisting the Events and Catering Duty Supervisors in the operational delivery of catering, taking responsibility for the service of catered events. You will assist with co-ordinating the Events and Catering team, ensuring all catering requirements are met. This will also involve clearing rooms of delivered catering, collect and record customer consumption and feedback ensuring total compliance with College / Department policies and legislation.

This role will predominantly work at the South Kensington campus, but you may on occasion be required to work at any outlet/venue across the College's portfolio. In addition, this role will involve evening and weekend work.,

  • Brief, induct, co-ordinate and provide basic training to relevant team members to deliver a professional, efficient, and safe service. This includes routine inductions for new or agency staff, provide basic manual handling training, assessments and on-the-job training and brief staff about new procedures as directed by the Line Manager.

  • Ensuring the effective cleaning and maintenance of departmental furniture/equipment and assisting with pot wash and associated areas, including all equipment, utensils, and floors, when required.

  • Ensure all venues are left clean and tidy.

  • Ensure all catering deliveries are cleared from all events venues across Campus on and off site, within the given time frame.

  • To deliver catering items to meeting rooms and ensure correct set-up.

  • To report any failure of service/collection to the Line Manager and to dispose of all waste in the correct way.

  • Report daily the rooms/areas that were unable to be cleared.

  • To supervise an effective service, in conjunction with the FM Support Services Team for the setting up of furniture/equipment for all College events., Attached documents are available under links. Clicking a document link will initialize its download.

  • A good understanding of the importance of health and safety at work and associated regulations/legislative requirements

  • Physically able to operate different equipment/machinery and lift objects of varying loads

  • Tact and diplomacy to deal with people in all circumstances in a professional manner

  • Ability to use own initiative with limited supervision, to deal with problems which may hinder the delivery of an effective service

  • A flexible approach to working, sufficient to be able to work a 5/7 days per week arrangement, work evenings and weekends, and able to work at any location, as reasonably requested

    The standard working week consists of 37 hours, 5 days out of 7 and working evenings and weekends.
