Full Job Description

HomeServe are currently recruiting for a Senior Finance Manager to join the Finance Team in Walsall. The ideal candidate will have worked previously with process transformation and be well experienced with SOX controls.
We work in a hybrid way, mostly remote with a requirement to travel into our Walsall office twice a week to work with the team. With that in mind you will be located within a convenient commute to Walsall.
Financial Reporting & Control ('FR&C') is responsible for the financial accounting, reporting, control and financial processing for HomeServe Membership and several other group companies., The Senior Finance Manager is responsible producing elements of the management accounts (P&L and Balance Sheet) for HomeServe Membership Limited so that they are controlled, reported and analysed in a timely and accurate manner for all stakeholders. The key accountabilities are:

  • Management Reporting - Production and ownership of elements of the monthly management accounts, predominately focused on, but not limited to the Service Operations business unit

  • Insight - Understanding results through the production of analysis and reports with appropriate commentary, including communicating performance results in monthly management meetings

  • Financial Controls & SOX - Maintaining financial excellence and control, ensuring that all the accounting processes, policies, standards, and SOX financial controls applicable to your area are adhered to.

  • Continuous improvement - Challenge, identify and create innovative solutions to drive improvements across the financial control function, embedding financial best practice, with the aim of reducing production time whilst strengthening existing controls

  • Finance Leadership - Be a role model for our People and lead them in a way that demonstrates our values and behaviours. Ensure that colleagues in your team are competent, capable and empowered to deliver what is required of them

  • Audit - Assist with the half year and year end audit process, liaise with the external auditors

    An experienced Finance professional - a qualified accountant with strong fundamental finance skills

  • A strong desire to implement process improvements and able to lead change projects.

  • A collaborative leader, who inspires trust and confidence in others. Pragmatic and operates with pace, energy and drive. With an eye for detail but also able to stand back and see the bigger picture

  • Good stakeholder management skills at all levels

  • Strong technical knowledge and experience in the application of accounting standards

  • Diplomatic; persuasive; courageous; driven. Resilient and tough, able to deliver against all odds

  • Proactive, focussed and diligent with excellent communication skills


  • Desirable:
  • Proven track record working in a fast paced, consumer facing organisation in the Financial Services sector

  • Experience of using Oracle Financials and Hyperion Planning

  • Experience of working within a SOX financial control environment
