Full Job Description

The Senior Group Facilitator will work closely with the Senior Lived Experience Practitioner, Clinical Psychologist and Sector Manager to develop and deliver a range of group interventions as part of the group work programme at ARCH Hillingdon. These will be evidence based and will include Motivational Interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Activity based CBT-informed, Positive Psychology and Solution Focused interventions supporting service users from contemplating change through to long term recovery and aftercare.
The post holder will have appropriate awareness and/or working knowledge of therapies relevant to drug and alcohol disorders and have experience of assessment, care planning, case management, risk assessment and of offering individual and group-based recovery interventions. They will also promote the use of a 'coaching' role to support service users in identifying goals and developing personal recovery plans.
We are looking for a person who can use their own creative skills alongside our resources to engage service users and support them on their recovery journey. The aim of the role is to provide group interventions, using recovery principles, in order to improve the service users' quality of life and to support them to do the things they want to do and live the life they want to lead. The post holder will receive regular supervision by the Team Manager and opportunities for training through CNWL Learning and Development and the Recovery and Wellbeing College., COMMUNICATION:
1. To demonstrate effective communication skills and form positive working relationship, using warmth and empathy that enables service user empowerment.
2. To promote the role of the Senior Group Facilitator within the ARCH Hillingdon service.
3. To attend and contribute to team clinical and business meetings.
4. Maintain professional relationships with particular attention to confidentiality and the maintenance of boundaries.
5. To promote the benefits of employment for those with 'lived experience' of overcoming mental health challenges.
CLINICAL:
1. To support Service Users to identify the most appropriate group-work programme to meet their needs from a range of options.
2. To support in the case load management of service user engaged in treatment at ARCH Hillingdon.
3. To work closely with local and regional mutual aid groups and community-based aftercare options.
4. To work with newly appointed peer support workers to deliver support to those individuals accessing services within the designated borough.
5. To promote and develop the group programme for service users within the RDP, ensuring this enhances the therapeutic effect and evidence-based outcomes.
6. To contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and review of care with the multi-disciplinary team; encouraging the individual the co-produce care plans and risk/safety management plans., The postholder will be required to work flexibly, providing assistance as and when necessary, which may involve them in a developing role.

9. To challenge any inequalities and to address any discrimination whilst ensuring a process of learning for the organisation.
10. Report any untoward incidents or unusual occurrences to the manager/senior clinician immediately.
CLINICAL:
1. To work with the multi-disciplinary team utilising a combination of Psychosocial Interventions (PSIs) such as Motivational interviewing, Relapse Prevention, Activity based, CBT-informed Positive Psychology alongside a peer-led coaching role in order to support service users to contemplate change through to long term recovery and aftercare.
2. To support Service Users to identify the most appropriate group-work programme to meet their needs from a range of options.
3. To support in the case load management of service user engaged in treatment at ARCH Hillingdon.
4. Assess suitability for groups in terms of risk and special needs.
5. Provide support and respectful relationship with people using the service.
6. To develop and maintain excellent working relationships with local partners including mental health and social services, hostels and other organisations.
7. To work closely with local and regional mutual aid groups and community-based aftercare options.
8. To work with newly appointed peer support workers to deliver support to those individuals accessing services within the designated borough. To promote the use of a 'coaching' role to support service users in developing personal recovery plans.
9. To model/mentor a recovery process and demonstrate self-management skills and techniques, using own experience of recovery.
10. To support and guide the team to consider group work as part of Recovery Planning.
11. To promote and develop the group programme for service users within the RDP, ensuring this enhances the therapeutic effect and evidence-based outcomes.
12. To contribute to the assessment, planning, implementation and review of care with the multi-disciplinary team; encouraging the individual the co-produce care plans and risk/safety management plans.
13. To ensure effective provision of community-based recovery focused interventions to service users both within and beyond the service.
14. To ensure equality of service provision for both alcohol and drug misusing service user in line with the ARCH Hillingdon integrated treatment approach.
15. To act as a role model to service users to inspire hope, share life experiences and lessons learned as a person in recovery.
16. To skilfully use personal experience of recovery to help motivate service users
17. To assume a 'coaching' role supporting service users in developing personal recovery plans; this can be delivered individually or in groups.
18. To assist individuals in managing their physical and mental wellbeing; including providing practical support with all aspects of their daily lives.
19. To assist service users to identify their strengths, personal interests and goals; providing opportunities for service users to direct their own recovery process.
20. To act as a role model to service users to inspire hope, share life experiences and lessons learned as a person in recovery.
21. To support service users to develop Health and Wellbeing Plans encouraging individuals to connect/ reconnect with family, friends, significant others and in learning how to improve or eliminate unhealthy relationships.
22. To positively promote and support service users in the community by maintaining extensive knowledge and links with community resources and actively supporting service users to access opportunities of their choice.
23. To accept and respect service users' personal beliefs, uniqueness and identity.
DOCUMENTATION
1. To ensure timely, accurate and informative records of clinical contacts are recorded on SystmOne which meet all standards, according to Trust policy.
LEADERSHIP /MANAGEMENT
1. To provide information and resources to other members of staff as appropriate
2. Line manage the group facilitator.
CLINICAL GOVERNANCE
1. To comply with relevant national policy legislation and guidance.
2. To apply Trust wide guidelines/standards of practice.
3. To work with the service line / borough frameworks to implement the care quality agenda.
4. To assume accountability for own clinical practice.
5. To maintain and observe confidentiality of all information relating to service users as detailed in the Confidentiality Policy and Caldicott Principles; and to adhere to CNWL Information Governance Policy.
SERVICE DELIVERY AND DEVELOPMENT
1. To ensure that all service user activities delivered comply with the teams identified package of care.
2. To safeguard the health, safety and welfare of service users at all times.
3. To practice within a personal recovery framework which supports social inclusion and self-management.
4. To contribute as a member of the multi-disciplinary team in delivering operational service/team objectives.
5. To raise awareness of the group work programme being facilitated within the MDT colleagues.
6. To contribute to the development of activities with regard to the Senior Group Facilitator knowledge and experience.
7. All staff will be expected to contribute to general duties such as covering on reception when required.
8. To undertake any other duties as instructed by line manager/s that will contribute to fulfilling project aims.
9. To be aware of, teach others and challenge issues in relation to stigma, low expectations and anti-discriminatory practice as appropriate.
10. To attend clinical, business & service development meetings as required.
PERSONAL AND PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT
1. To keep abreast of new developments relating to clinical practice.
2. To contribute to activities, which continue to build on a culture of, shared learning and evidence-based practice.
3. To undertake activities of Continuous Professional Development including identifying own learning needs, recording learning outcomes
4. To ensure timely booking and attendance of mandatory and statutory training. Failure to do this may preclude further learning and development opportunities.
5. To review and reflect on own performance through effective use of supervision, CPD opportunities and annual appraisal; ensuring own learning and development needs are identified.
EMOTIONAL EFFORT
1. To provide care for service users who maybe come distressed or present with challenging behaviour.
WORK CONDITIONS
1. To have the ability to work within an environment that may expose individuals to verbal and physical abuse.
PROFESSIONAL AND PERSONAL DEVELOPMENT
1. To actively participate in own group and individual Peer and team based supervision structures and objective setting/appraisal, including developing a professional development plan.
2. To ensure mandatory training is up to date.
3. To keep abreast of changing practice and development of group facilitation, psychosocial interventions, peer support work and the wider recovery agenda by participating in relevant learning and development opportunities; and support peer support workers to also identify and access relevant opportunities
4. Ensure policy compliance regarding attendance at Level 4 London South Bank University 'Developing Expertise in Peer Support' training and discipline specific supervision engagement.
