Full Job Description

Lincolnshire County Council is looking to recruit a Senior Highways Officers to join us in our East team. You will lead the team of Highways Officers in the delivery of Local Highways Management, contributing to operational, technical, performance and political matters to ensure the efficient use of the Lincolnshire Highways Network.

About the Team
Local Highways Management cover the whole County and this role will generally involve day to day management of highways matters in the East. The road network across the County varies from quiet areas of natural beauty, to the busy streets of Lincoln, Grantham, Boston and Louth. Eastern coastal towns like Skegness and Mablethorpe bring significant tourism, whilst the west of the County benefits from growing links with main road and rail routes to the rest of the UK.

About the Role
Senior Highways officers, are critical in delivering the Local Highways Management services in accordance with the Highways Act 1980 and the County Council's Policies and procedures. You will cover the East of the County, providing both resilience where it is required and leadership to more junior members of staff. The role is varied and challenging and you will have the opportunity to broaden your skills through training and development to support your progression in the highways sector, with opportunities for progression into more senior roles within the wider Highways Service.

Your workload will include highways maintenance, winter maintenance, highways safety inspections, Highways Act enforcement, minor highways and environmental improvements and public and political interface on all highways services.

Hybrid working is a feature of this role. The successful applicant will be required to attend the office alongside the rest of the team a minimum of once a week. On occasion additional days may be required.

It is essential that you hold an HNC or Eng Tech and/or IEng in an appropriate discipline, OR have a demonstrable level of knowledge and skill suitable for the role., Above all else you need to have a positive "can do" attitude and be passionate about ensuring the Lincolnshire Highways Network delivers for the residents of the county.

Please note this role requires you to be mobile throughout an operational area and therefore a valid driving licence and use of a car is required., In accordance with Part 7 of the Immigration Act 2016 (Fluency Duty), the ability to converse at ease with customers and provide advice in accurate spoken English is essential for the post., Disability Confident
