Full Job Description
To support the corporate and operations functions of the university, ensuring the university is able to comply with the law and other regulations governing its operation, through the development and maintenance an effective and compliant framework of policies and procedure, and other governance mechanisms.
To provide high quality consultancy service, advice and guidance to managers and individual members of staff in relation to all aspects of employment.
To lead on and support organisational development and culture change, in support of City St George's strategic direction and agreed values.
The postholder will provide complex employee relations advice as a subject matter expert to people managers, supporting the University to minimise and resolve employee relations matters efficiently and in line with its policies and procedures. They will also ensure employee relations issues and trends are measured, reported on, analysed for intervention and continuous improvement measures implemented
You will:
Be professionally qualified - either Graduate membership of the CIPD or broad-based business qualification and/or practical HR experience in a range of HR activities including experience in employee relations.
Have up-to-date knowledge and understanding of employment legislation and employment practice, with a sound judgement in HR and Employee Relations matters
Have a demonstrable track record of HR and Employee Relations delivery, including management of a broad range of casework, and significant experience of providing advice to managers on a full range of employee relations and HR issues.
Have recent experience of developing robust strategies for managing complex employee relations processes.
Have experience of staff engagement and liaison with Trade Union(s), in particular on an individual level.
Have experience of engaging and gaining credibility with people from different backgrounds, managing and maintaining effective working relationships and influencing when required.
