Full Job Description
As a senior member of the SAIS you will be responsible for the planning and the delivery of a variety of immunisations for 0-19 year olds following the national routine immunisation schedule.
You will be responsible for delivering the induction process and supporting new members of staff as well as developing bespoke projects to increase immunisation uptake across the county with a focus on supporting health inequalities. The service wide Senior Immunisation Nurse is also responsible for overseeing a small team of administrators and a clinical team who undertake the planning and delivery of BCG vaccinations across the service. You will also provide annual leave and sickness cover for the localised team based Senior Immunisation nurses when required.
You will be required to support the localised Senior Immunisation Nurses provide day to day leadership for a team of immunisation nurses, immunisation programme assistants and admin staff under the guidance of the Clinical Leads; ensuring the smooth running and administration of nurse-led sessions in school and outreach settings, optimising the uptake of immunisations via promotion of public health strategies and liaison with school health teams.
As a Senior Immunisation Nurse, you will promote the health and wellbeing of children/young people and their families to ensure the provision of high quality, safe, immunisation services to children and their families., The successful applicant will work in schools, clinics and family homes with children, young people and babies to deliver vaccinations in a safe and professional way. Engagement with hard to reach groups such as travellers and children who are looked after is another aspect of the teams remit and the band 6 responsibilities will include supporting this work in the community. The ability to communicate well and remain calm under pressure is essential.
