Senior Inorganics Chemist

Here at Cawood, we are looking for a Senior Inorganics Chemist to join our team in Chemtech on a full time, permanent basis. The role of Senior Inorganics Chemist is to support the laboratory manager and co-ordinators in the effective delivery of laboratory services through the planning of workloads, supporting chemists and technicians, and carrying out sample analysis. Organisation

• Plan and monitor the daily workload in the laboratory section
• Communicate with other departments
• Be a role model and set an example to junior staff
• Ensure good housekeeping
• Maintain stock levels and place orders accordingly
Analysis
• Undertake preparation and analysis
• Update worklists accordingly
Training & development
• Train Chemists and Technicians
• Ensure staff training records are maintained
• Identify opportunities for improvement in analysis
• Undertake method development
Quality
• Carry out daily checks when required
• Undertake NWR investigations
• Co-ordinate NWR investigations within laboratory section
Internal & External AQC
• Ensure internal AQC is adequate
• Maintain AQC charts
• Co-ordinate analysis of PT samples within laboratory section
• Preparation and analysis of PT samples
• Co-ordinate and carry out PT failure reports within laboratory section
  
  Working knowledge of analytical instrumentation
• Exceptional organisational skills and high attention to detail
• Excellent communication skills
• Hands on experience with analytical techniques
  
  This role is located in the United Kingdom at our business unit, Chemtech Environmental, within the Cawood Scientific Environment Division. Chemtech Environmental, part of Cawood Scientific, is one of the UK's largest independent chemical analysis testing labs. Based in County Durham, we are able to service the testing needs of customers from all over the UK and Ireland.
