Full Job Description

An IT Network Engineer specialist is a professional responsible for designing, implementing, maintaining, and managing an organisation's network infrastructure. Their role is crucial in ensuring that network systems are reliable, secure, and efficient. They handle complex network issues and tasks, Network Configuration and Management: Configure and manage network devices such as routers, switches, and firewalls. Ensure that network settings and configurations meet organizational requirements.
Performance Monitoring: Monitor network performance and analyze traffic patterns to ensure optimal performance and security. Use tools to track network health and identify potential issues before they become critical.
Security Management: Implement and manage security measures to protect the network from threats. This includes configuring firewall rules, VPNs, and intrusion detection/prevention systems.
Documentation: Maintain detailed documentation of network configurations, changes, and troubleshooting procedures. This helps in maintaining consistency and facilitates easier troubleshooting.
Project Support: Assist in network projects, such as upgrades or new installations. This may involve collaborating with other IT teams or vendors.
User Support: Provide higher-level support to users, especially for more complex issues that go beyond basic troubleshooting.
Training and Guidance: Mentor and provide guidance to Level 1 engineers. Share knowledge and best practices to help build the overall skill level of the IT team.
Sanitation, disinfection or cleaning procedures in place

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or relevant technical experience
Certification in IT Networking like CCNA
Skills

Technical Knowledge: Strong understanding of networking concepts (TCP/IP, DNS, DHCP, etc.), protocols, and technologies (VPNs, VLANs, etc.).
Problem-Solving Skills: Ability to diagnose and resolve complex network issues quickly and efficiently.
Experience with Network Devices: Hands-on experience with network hardware like routers, switches, and firewalls.
Security Awareness: Knowledge of network security principles and best practices.
Communication Skills: Ability to explain technical issues clearly to non-technical users and collaborate effectively with team members.
Certifications: Relevant certifications (e.g., Cisco CCNA, CompTIA Network+) can be beneficial or required depending on the employer.
Experience:

Network Design and Implementation: Plan and design network infrastructure to meet organizational needs, including local area networks (LANs), wide area networks (WANs), and other network systems. Implement network solutions, including hardware and software configurations.
Network Maintenance and Management: Monitor network performance and troubleshoot issues to ensure optimal operation. Perform regular updates and maintenance on network hardware and software.
Advanced Troubleshooting: Resolve complex network issues that Level 1 engineers escalate. This may involve diagnosing problems with network hardware, software, or configurations.
