Full Job Description

The Workflows Engineering team are recruiting Java Engineers across two main locations to play a crucial role in our organisation. The successful candidates will become part of a newly formed engineering team which will address complex challenges and take these to resolution acting as a complimentary team to multiple areas across the engineering organisation. This provides a phenomenal opportunity for individuals who enjoy solving a variety of problems and who relish the chance to be responsible for the resolution of exciting and new challenges on a regular basis.

The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues across the organisation to build and implement the technical strategy for a set of Engineering Products. They will ensure business requirements are applied and lean on their experience of software engineering and development lifecycles to lead change in exciting software challenges and customer solutions.,

  • Demonstrates proven understanding of a single or multiple technologies and advises on design, development and implementation

  • Advances tools and applications by producing clean and efficient code and reviews others' code when required

  • Manages own workload and promotes an inclusive and open culture

  • Demonstrates depth of knowledge and expertise in engineering and is regarded as the specialist in their domain. Develops knowledge of other domains to understand linkages and dependencies

  • Understands the tech strategy, and how they impact own work as well as adjacent teams

  • Coordinates the design work and planning for user stories ensuring the achieve the desired objectives

  • Contributes to the creation of solutions for Epics and the associated implementation tasks

  • Adapts existing patterns to develop robust solutions

  • Develops understanding of LSEG's commercial direction and how technology is a part of this

  • Completes the delivery of given tasks with some guidance and oversight

  • Builds positive relationships with senior internal partners, growing network and collaborating with own team and colleagues in other domains/important areas.

  • Communicates complex information clearly to relevant audiences

  • Takes initiative to develop knowledge in technology products and tools through on the job learning, certifications and projects.

    Must have:

  • Significant knowledge of Java

  • Significant experience in a Software development and delivery role

  • Ideally a minimum of any two of the following Springboot REST and websocket services, Event-driven messaging (Kafka), SQL (Oracle/SQLServer), Redis, Azure - PaaS (EventHub, AzureSQL, Kubernetes, AzureCache, etc), terraform, helm, GitLab CI - or AWS equivalents

  • Some experience of Business and Technical Analysis, Quality Assurance, delivery management, and / or Emerging Technology and Governance.

  • Basic financial understanding of trading systems and financial markets.
