Freelancers are eligible to apply for an internal role if they are on a Worker Contract and they have worked continuously for 6 months. • The role includes working closely with other team members and with other parts of the BBC to ensure material is shared and best practice is upheld.
• You will be creating content for use on TV, radio, the news website and social platforms and should understand the different formats and treatments that work for different outlets.
• You're daily work will include reporting, presenting, production and planning of stories, cutting pictures, writing scripts, newsgathering and packaging.
• You will be expected to bring in original sport stories and features and will be given the opportunity to develop these for all platforms.
• You will be expected to fully understand the multi-platform environment we now operate in and be committed to delivering content for them.
  
  The ideal candidate is a highly motivated sports journalist who is an enthusiastic self-starter with excellent organisational skills, and a proven track record of delivering original sports stories from the patch, especially those of interest to our target audience.
• The person would be interested in producing stories for teams across digital, TV and radio and working alongside other journalists to bring reports together.
• The candidate should want to work as part of a team but should also be comfortable coming up with ideas and working to their own deadlines.
• They would have an understanding of our target audiences in the North East and Cumbria and have a thorough knowledge of the BBC values.

As a senior journalist-reporter, you'll be an important part of a multi-platform team making local news content to run across the website, regional TV, the local radio stations and social media. As a region, we are passionate about sport and it drives a lot of our content.
We cover one of the most diverse areas of the country, from fascinating and beautiful rural areas such as Northumberland and The Lake District, to vibrant major conurbations such as Newcastle, Gateshead, Sunderland, Middlesbrough and Carlisle.
