Full Job Description

  • Oversee the design, development, and deployment of Event Streaming solutions, ensuring they meet quality standards and project objectives
  • Review and approve changes to Kafka implementations, ensuring adherence to architectural principles and coding standards. You will rationalise and simplify solutions before and during their build
  • Mentor and guide engineers to develop event streaming applications, working with the Chapter Lead to ensure appropriate guidelines, standards and processes are in place and applied consistently
  • Drive continuous improvement in software development processes, tools, and methodologies
  • Balance delivery priorities with long-term stability to minimize technical debt
  • Present technical concepts to stakeholders, both technical and non-technical
  • Foster experimentation & innovation across teams to solve complex technical challenges

  • 7+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 4 years focused on Kafka and event streaming technologies
  • Strong knowledge of event streaming patterns and their application
  • Extensive experience with Kafka architecture, including cluster setup, configuration, and optimization
  • Experience in software development/engineering and solution design at a senior level, working with Architecture and alongside multiple technology disciplines, including creation and maintenance of technical documentation and knowledge repositories
  • Experience working with onshore and offshore teams and working in an environment that includes 3rd party vendors and suppliers
  • Ability to troubleshoot and work with multiple teams to determine root cause of issues by supporting the investigation of code and data
  • Evidence of taking a personal level of ownership that has seen you going over and above to meet deadlines and deliver the best outcomes
  • Strong communication and presentation skills, with experience communicating with stakeholders at all levels
  • Contributions to open-source projects or relevant certifications (e.g., Confluent Certified Developer for Apache Kafka)
