Full Job Description
You will undertake teaching and assessment, including module leadership for our skin cancer and skin lesion management programme. You will design engaging teaching activities, set and mark formative and summative assessments, provide constructive feedback and evaluation in order to support student learning. You will act as a project supervisor commensurate with your qualifications and provide academic and pastoral support to students as a personal tutor.
You will contribute to the planning, design and development of aims, objectives and learning outcomes on appropriate programmes. In addition, you will identify areas where current provision is in need of revision or improvement and design and develop new teaching materials to ensure the curriculum maintains currency, particularly regarding clinical issues. We are looking for an individual with special interest in skin cancer and skin lesion management, committed to excellence in teaching and enhancing patient care, to join our multidisciplinary team of motivated and friendly staff in our Centre for Postgraduate Medicine and Public Health., You will need to have substantial proven post-qualifying clinical experience in skin cancer with evidence of current clinical practice which must include skin cancer. You will have experience of collaborative working in multidisciplinary settings such as community, hospital or primary care, and have experience of public speaking and/or teaching.
You must possess breadth and depth of specialist knowledge in skin lesion management and skin cancer including a knowledge and understanding of relevant UK national guidance. You must be able to demonstrate an appreciation and understanding of the educational needs of students and how their prior learning experiences might influence their current educational expectations. You will be expected to contribute to curriculum development and demonstrate cultural awareness. You must have a proven ability to disseminate conceptual and complex ideas to a variety of audiences.
In addition, you must have a proficiency in English Language with excellent written and verbal communication skills. This will include good interpersonal skills with the ability to create excellent working relationships, and an ability to communicate effectively, clearly and supportively with both students and academic colleagues.
Qualifications required
You will be educated with an undergraduate degree or equivalent Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline. In addition, you should hold a postgraduate qualification i.e., Masters and/or PhD (completed or close to completion, e.g. has submitted final thesis) in a relevant subject area. You must be a member of a UK health care professional regulatory body e.g. General Medical Council or Nursing and Midwifery Council.
