Full Job Description
The Screen School at the London College of Communication is looking to recruit a Senior Lecturer for Research as part of the Film and Television programme and Screen School. The programme has a commitment to social justice with an ethical compass to foster meaningful dialogue, impact, and diverse and inclusive engagement through film and screen. This is an opportunity to deploy specialist expertise and develop our research and research informed pedagogy and curriculum in innovative and critical directions that stimulate and develop our practice challenging the canon of screen. The successful candidate will promote and manage the , develop the research environment with colleagues, post-graduate researchers, and students and participate in the delivery of supervision and teaching. The appointed candidate will work primarily under the direction of the Professor of Multimodal Storytelling while contributing to the film and television programme, and School, College and University research initiatives.
We are seeking an academic with knowledge and experience in an area of film, television or screen-based research which aligns with our principles of promoting social justice, diversity and inclusion. You will ideally be educated to PhD level and have experience of delivering and working in research environments, supervision and teaching at different levels, including postgraduate researchers. It is desirable you have experience supervising doctoral students. You will demonstrate an ability to teach and motivate a diverse body of students and researchers to think creatively and critically and guide their research and professional careers. You will continue to develop your field of specialism and contribute to our research environment, partnerships and collaborations. You will promote relationships with professional organizations to provide students and researchers with access to networking and opportunities for research and research funding. The successful candidate should possess good interpersonal skills and the ability to lead, manage and work alongside full and part-time staff. Candidates should demonstrate subject knowledge as well as skills relevant to subject development within an academic, research and professional context.
