Full Job Description
As a Senior LFE Engineer, you'll have a role that's out of the ordinary. You'll directly impact the future effectiveness and reliability of the UK's nuclear submarine fleet by driving improvements in design and maintenance strategies., Babcock's Submarine Support Engineering (SSE) department is seeking a Senior LFE Engineer to join a new team working on the Dreadnought and AUKUS nuclear deterrent platforms. This role focuses on ensuring effective maintenance and mission success by learning from past experiences. Day to day, using historical data from the Vanguard and Astute class submarines, you'll identify patterns that lead to system, component or maintenance issues. Your work will help determine if similar issues could impact the future Dreadnought and AUKUS class submarines. By investigating these patterns, you'll influence design and maintenance strategies to improve the performance of our next-generation vessels. You will also:
- Collaborate with stakeholders from the MoD, SDA, and internal teams to share insights and findings.
- Contribute to bi-annual reports, deliver presentations, and lead workshops on solutions to identified issues.
- Apply your expertise to support other projects within the team, where your skills can add value. This role is full time, 35 hours per week and provides hybrid working arrangements with 2 days in the office/onsite and 3 days working from home. Once a month there will be a requirement to travel to Barrow.
- Understand system engineering concepts and possess knowledge of the discipline and its application.
- Experienced interrogating technical data
- Experienced in customer-facing roles and working closely with stakeholders
- Leading or contributing to programming activities and development, including strategic thinking; Qualifications for the Senior Learning From Experience (LFE) Engineer
- Chartered Engineer in a relevant discipline (e.g., Mechanical Engineering) with Systems Engineering qualifications.
- Degree in a STEM discipline. Consideration will also be given to candidates who:
- Are members of an accredited body (e.g., IMechE, IMarEST, IET) and working towards chartered status.
- Hold an HNC or HND in a STEM field (e.g., Mechanical, Electrical, Systems, Data, or Maths). Security Clearance The successful candidate must be able to achieve and maintain Security Check (SC) security clearance for this role.
