Full Job Description

The Senior Manufacturing Engineer will lead projects to improve manufacturing efficiency, capacity, and product quality, focusing on lean manufacturing and continuous improvement. This role will support both, the Greenford and Sheffield manufacturing teams, ensuring process development, equipment optimization, and operational safety across both locations for current and future products., Lead continuous improvement initiatives to enhance production efficiency and quality.
Develop and implement manufacturing processes including brazing, machining, and assembly.
Ensure tooling and equipment meet operational standards, addressing any gaps.
Interpret engineering drawings, analyse tolerances, and recommend process improvements.
Manage project scopes, budgets, and timelines.
Provide technical support to production teams and drive lean manufacturing practices.
Optimize equipment utilization, layout, and logistics flow.
Maintain strong relationships with production, quality, design, maintenance, and customer service teams.
Oversee the introduction of new products, technologies, and equipment.

Managerial Duties:
Mentor and manage the manufacturing team, ensuring adherence to HSE and process standards.
Set clear roles and responsibilities, prioritize workloads, and manage team performance.
Lead recruitment, training, and development of engineering staff.

Extensive experience in manufacturing process development and lean principles within brazing, machining, and welding environments highly desirable.
Proven track record in continuous improvement and project management.
Strong leadership and communication skills with prior team management experience.
Engineering degree and at least 5 years of relevant experience preferred.
Experience in robotics is preferred and desirable.
Technical skills: Project Management, Basic finance, Six Sigma, FMEA, SPC, Ergonomics, Risk Assessments, OSH compliance, RCA, Knowledge of material properties, and ability to understand tool designs.

Welding and Brazing Expertise - proficiency in MIG, TIG, spot welding, and brazing, with a strong understanding of material compatibility and heat treatment for structural integrity.
Robotics and Automation - experience in programming and maintaining robotic systems, integrating automation for welding and material handling, and troubleshooting robotic equipment.
Machining and Tooling Knowledge - Skilled in CNC programming and machining, tool and die design, and optimizing machining processes for precision and efficiency.
Lean Manufacturing and Continuous Improvement - expertise in lean methodologies (5S, Kaizen) and Six Sigma tools to streamline processes, reduce waste, and automate for consistent quality.
