Senior Medical Diet Nutritionist within Chartwells will be responsible for the day-to-day management of medical diet provision across Chartwells. They will have direct management of the Chartwells Medical Diet Nutritionists and will oversee the contract Medical Diet Coordinators through dotted line management. In addition to day-to-day management of medical diets they will strategically develop our approach to medical diets across all sectors of Chartwells for the future and lead on any future projects directly related to medical diet provision. The role will be a highly visible one supporting a team as well as operators, parents and clients where required. This role is responsible for reacting appropriately to the challenges we face in these areas and regularly assessing the process to ensure we are meeting the needs of the business overall. The Senior Medical Diet Nutritionist will report directly into the Head of Technical and Compliance supporting other business needs where required. - Overall responsibility for Chartwells day to day operation of medical diets
- Support HSE teams on ensuring Chartwells comply to existing and new allergy legislation e.g. FIR and Natasha's Law
- Lead the development of Chartwells medical diet function and strive for an inclusive menu offer for children and students with allergies or intolerances
- Evidence and evaluate the uptake and provision of medical diets across our business
- Report and measure incident rates and create action plans to minimise risk
- Work with counterparts in other Compass markets (internationally) to share best practice
- Ensure medical diets is considered at all stages of Food Development process from ingredients to recipes
- Lead training programmes across the business of allergens and intolerances
- Responsible for reviewing policies and procedures on a regular basis and amending where necessary
- Manage the communication with parents, local authorities and NHS departments on the provision of medical dietary requirements.
- Enhance our medical dietary provision and find innovative ingredients, methods, systems to ensure we are market leaders
Degree or qualification in Food Safety, Nutrition, Allergens, Technical or equivalent - Minimum of 5 years' experience within the industry
- Food safety experience in foodservice (desired)
- Knowledge and experience of food allergies and intolerances
- Demonstrates strong leadership skills
- Excellent attention to detail
- Proven ability to manage high workload
- Ability to solve problems finding resolve for all stakeholders.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Ability to quickly gain credibility with key stakeholders
