Full Job Description

1. To lead on engagement with junior doctors and locally employed doctors across RMCH/MCS and any associated improvement programmes.

2. To support the Medical Director and Medical Director Team in improving and develop the junior doctor and locally employed doctor experience.

3. To act as a voice for junior doctors and locally employed doctors within organisational decision-making.

4. To attend and support the Junior Doctor Forum.

5. To ensure that an effective and comprehensive induction process is delivered to all junior doctors and locally employed doctors starting within RMCH/MCS.

6. To ensure appropriate action plans are in place and implemented following recommendations or requirements raised through the GMC Trainee Survey, following Deanery Visits, through Undergraduate Student's feedback and any other mechanisms in place to capture feedback from Trainees/Students and Trainers.

7. To work with and lead on the Medical Director Team initiatives, programmes of work and developments that include or impact on junior doctors and locally employed doctors.

8. Any other appropriate duties which may be assigned from time to time by the Medical Director - RMCH/MCS.

The Medical Director's Leadership Fellow (MDLF) is a unique opportunity for a junior doctor (ST3+ or equivalent) to be able to learn and develop leadership skills by working alongside the senior leadership team at RMCH. The role is 80% non-clinical which allows plenty of time and opportunity to identify, initiate and follow through projects. For the first few weeks/months you will be able to observe the Medical Director in their role to gain an understanding of how the hospital systems work and how to initiate and maintain change within the NHS. Based on your own ideas or seeing projects that interest you there will the opportunity to get involved in something that suits your interests and background. No previous leadership experience is required as this is a developmental role.
