Full Job Description

The post holder will work 30 hours per week, Monday to Friday, hours to be agreed.

Main responsibilities include:

  • Supervision and line management of the Clinical Haematology admin team

  • Typing clinical correspondence

  • Booking of follow up outpatient appointments

  • Coding of outpatient activity

  • Deal with telephone calls, both internal and external

    We are looking for a highly organised part time senior medical secretary and clerical team lead with previous experience in a similar setting to undertake this challenging role within the Clinical Haematology admin team, based at the Royal Bolton Hospital. You will provide and manage a comprehensive secretarial service to the consultant haematologists, speciality doctors and clinical nurse specialists and will line manage the haematology clerical team.


  • Candidates should be articulate, capable of undertaking a demanding workload and must be able to demonstrate a significant level of initiative. Candidates should possess advanced keyboard skills including a high standard of word processing skills to at least RSA II or equivalent level qualification/experience. Previous medical secretarial experience and audio typing is essential.

    You must be able to demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to prioritise workload and be able to work with little or no supervision. You should be able to integrate well with the existing team and have a genuine desire to provide a quality service to all patients., Disability Confident
