Full Job Description

The service will provide urgent triage of service users' mental health needs in the community, as an effective alternative to existing mental health crisis pathways available to emergency services. Service users will be supported to access the right care at the right time by the right professional in the least restrictive way, reducing system pressures across emergency services, emergency departments and health-based places of safety. Working in partnership will further form and strengthen working relationships between partner agencies and staff on the frontline, sharing experiences, education and insight into available local support resources for mutual service users. The postholder will provide clinical expertise and triage at the scene, working closely alongside colleagues across mental health services within Pennine Care., + To work in the community attending 999 calls and using clinical expertise to appropriately outcome these in the best interests of the patient and demands of emergency services.
+ Substantial experience and confidence in the assessment and appropriate management of risk.
+ To work alongside the MHUT as part of the MHJRV service to provide an effective and efficient response to referrals from GMP and NWAS.
+ To support service users to access the right care at the right time in the least restrictive way, reducing system pressures across emergency services, our locality EDs and S136 suites.
+ To provide urgent response to mental health related 999 calls using assessment, formulation and decision making skills to ascertain risk, self defined crisis and next steps.
+ To complete mental health assessments following triage for those presenting with acute mental health needs.
+ To strengthen working relationships between agencies on the front line providing mutual education and sharing insight into available local resource and support for local services users.
+ To provide advice in the management of complex cases for our NWAS and GMP colleagues.
+ The postholder must have a sound clinical knowledge and substantial experience of working in a secondary mental health care setting.

Disclosure Barring Certificate check
All of our new starters, who are appointed to a post which requires a Disclosure Barring Certificate check (DBS), will be recharged for the full cost of the check (DBS checks for volunteers are free of charge).
An enhanced DBS check costs £38 and a standard check costs £18 (plus an administration charge of £3.50). If you are a substantive member of staff, the full amount will be taken from your first month's salary.
If you are a member of staff on our bank, you will need to repay the full amount from your first salary.
We encourage you to register with the DBS update service at an annual cost of £13 (this is mandatory for bank staff).
