Full Job Description
To provide comprehensive assessments to plan and identify the mental health needs of the patients referred to the service and to follow up. This would primarily be for Children and Young People however this is not exclusive.
To have an in-depth understanding of a range of the physical health conditions and the impact these can have on mental health.
To have an in-depth understanding of the range of mental health conditions and presentations that Children and Young People may experience.
To be able to engage and establish an empathic rapport with patients with a wide spectrum of mental health problems in difficult settings.
To undertake and record comprehensive risk assessment, devise and implement risk management plans for service users at risk of vulnerability, self-harm, self-neglect, or risk of physical, sexual, emotional harm to others, using the agreed GMMH Risk assessment tool.
Ensure, as far as practicable, the full involvement of service users - and where appropriate, relatives and carers - in the assessment of their needs and the formulation and review of their care plans.
Main duties of the job
The service puts an emphasis on diversion and discharge from A&E and on the facilitation of early but effective discharge from general admission wards. The service operates 24 hours a day 7 days a week.
Provide specialist CAMHS clinical leadership, supervision, support and consultation to the MDT in the MHLS team,
Lead on the development of the MDT knowledge and skills set around the assessment and response to the needs of CYP. This will be achieved through the delivery of training, and supervision
Provide direct patient interventions for CYP focusing on relapse prevention, early discharge.
Expected to individually provide, and support the wider MDT in providing, safe and comprehensive assessments of CYP attending the A & E department. Which would include offering advice, support and consultation.
provide a service to people of all ages within the hospital wards and A&E, assessing individuals with a range of complex needs, such as organic and functional illness, this would include dementia and a range of illnesses associated with people from later life. In addition, there will be a requirement to assess individuals with learning disabilities.
Be expected to provide support and training to the acute hospital staff regarding recognizing mental illness and appropriate onward actions to be taken.
Offer assessment, support and care for individuals brought to Place of Safety facilities in relation to Section 136 of the MHA 1983.
