Full Job Description

We’re on the hunt for a driven and skilled Senior Modelling Engineer to spearhead innovative approaches to infrastructure capability modelling. You will play a pivotal role in managing and delivering complex modelling solutions that support major programs, cutting-edge research, and real-world railway operations. You’ll collaborate with expert modelling teams across the business to ensure the seamless coordination of systems analysis activities. What’s your day-to-day like? In this exciting role, you’ll lead engineering analysis and modelling efforts on a range of high-impact projects, driving success across the company. Your expertise will be key in meeting the team’s recovery targets and pushing the boundaries of what’s possible in railway engineering. You’ll take on system capability assessments, performance evaluations, and analysis of technical and operational designs using advanced methodologies like baselining, scenario planning, stress testing, and trade-off studies. Moreover, you’ll be at the forefront of developing our cutting-edge railway systems integration and analysis platform, fostering collaboration by sharing data and methodologies across the board. You’ll have the opportunity to lead in one or more of the following specialized areas: electrical supply capability, whole railway systems modelling, system reliability, lifecycle costing, journey time performance, signalling, track loading, or future maintenance planning.

  • A degree in Systems Engineering, Operations Research, or a related discipline
  • Extensive experience in systems effectiveness analysis
  • Strong background in the development and validation of systems performance models
  • Expertise in high-integrity, complex systems modelling within a technical discipline
  • A proven track record of working within multi-disciplinary management teams
  • We would also like, but not essential:
  • Progress towards professional accreditation as a Systems Engineer
  • Familiarity with railway engineering reporting systems and trend analysis
  • A solid understanding of the commercial and legal aspects of railway engineering
  • Knowledge of the railway industry’s development and approval processes
