General Dynamics Land Systems is on the look-out for a full-time Infrastructure Lead to join our Team. The successful and inclusive candidate will earn a favourable salary of £42,400 to £53,000, based on experience and potential. This is an ideal role for someone who has a proactive and positive mindset and a keen desire to grow professionally. Joining an established team based at our Merthyr facility, you will work across a range of stakeholders, Working as part of a Global team the Senior Network Engineer will support, implement and maintain the General Dynamic UK network equipment, infrastructure and maintain security posture, whilst maintaining Operational Support. Collaborate in the development of network strategies, ensuring optimal performance, working within cross-functional teams. This is a Hands-on role to support network reliability, providing technical guidance to enhance the overall network architecture in alignment with business objectives. If you were already working in this position, this is what you would have been working on this week:
- Champion GDLS Shared Service IT Network change activities.
- Generates and presents ideas for improvements to the Network Lead and other team members.
- Work within the network team on daily BAU and Project tasks.
- Configuration of routing, switching and security devices in line with GDUK network policies, procedures and designs.
- Provide remote trouble shooting, fault finding and support to all sites in GDUK as required.
- Undertake Patching, hot fixes and Maintenance of the network to ensure Security accreditation and compliance.
- Collaboration with external vendors and service providers, managing relationships and ensuring that network solutions meet service level agreements (SLAs) and contractual obligations. To apply for this role, you will require the following:
- Understanding of networking principles, including local and wide area networking (LAN/WAN), network protocols, routing and switching, network security, and performance optimisation.
- Identification of Network bottlenecks and required performance engineering
- Exploitation of virtual networking technologies
- Software Defined-Wide Area Network (SD-WAN)
- Secure Access Service Edge (SASE) In depth knowledge and experience with the following:-
- Change control, licensing and asset management
- Understanding of BGP, MPLS, OSPF, STP, IPSEC, SSL
- TCP/IP knowledge
- Palo Alto Firewalls
- Firewalls (Cisco Firepower, Palo Alto, Panorama, FMC)
- Cisco ASR and ISR routers
- Cisco Nexus 9K, Catalyst 9000 and 3000 Series switches
- Cisco Wireless controllers
- Cisco DNA and ISE
- NXOS, IOS-XE, IOS and PANOS knowledge
- Wireless networking and protocols
- VPN - Remote, Site-to-Site and Cloud solutions
- Experience of working within an Enterprise Environment
- 802.1x authentication and TACACS/RADIUS
- QoS
- VOIP (Mitel System)
