Full Job Description
The Nuclear Medicine Technologist or Radiographer works in a team of technologists and radiographers who form part of a multidisciplinary team providing the clinical Nuclear Medicine and PETCT service at the Royal United Hospital NHS Trust.
The work includes quality assurance and patient procedures using gamma camera imaging and in vitro clinical measurements. The department is equipped with two gamma cameras (both SPECT, with diagnostic CT) and one PETCT, also image processing and in vitro counting facility.

Main duties of the job
Undertake a full range of Nuclear Medicine and PETCT imaging in line
with agreed departmental practice and protocols.
Carry out intra-venous administration of radiopharmaceuticals with due
regard to radiation safety.
Give oral advice courteously and tactfully to patients and carers.
Undertake a full range of Nuclear Medicine image processing.
Participate in departmental audits.
Participate in departmental teaching sessions including presentations.
Carry out and check quality assurance in Nuclear Medicine in line with
agreed protocols.
Carry out non-imaging diagnostic nuclear medicine studies. including
taking blood
Measure radioactive substances before oral administration for
therapeutic use.
Administer radioactive substances orally.
Follow departmental procedures for the protection of patients, carers and
staff from radiation hazard, particularly in the case of spills of unsealed
sources or contaminated urine or faeces.
