The Short Term Assessment, Rehabilitation and Reablement Service (STARRS) are looking for an innovative and enthusiastic Senior Occupational Therapist who will bring new ideas and share their excellent working practice within this busy, friendly and supportive multidisciplinary team. Are you a quick thinking, problem-solving dynamic Occupational Therapist? Are you looking to enhance your assessment and treatment skills for patients in crisis? STARRS provides Nursing, Occupational Therapy and Physiotherapy services which can include specialist assessment, equipment and short-term packages of care.We are energetic service, which provides a comprehensive service to enable safe, timely Early Supported Discharge from the acute hospital, thereby, reducing the length of hospital stay by continuing patient care at home. As a Band 6 Senior Occupational Therapist you will:

  • Develop specialist skills within Occupational therapy in intermediate care
  • Develop skills in recognising and treating acutely unwell patient
  • Supervise junior staff and students
  • We will offer you support and training to develop your role within the team as well as the benefits and advantages of working within the NHS., 1. Take a senior role in the provision of a high quality therapy and nursing service within the specialist area (STARRS), assisting the clinical manager with strategic planning. 2. Be autonomously responsible for assessing and treating own clinical caseload within the specialist area and defining and implementing individualised programmes of care. 3. Responsible for developing the STARRS service within this newly formed Integrated care team, identifying opportunities for and participating in partnership working within the Trust and all external agencies including GPs, WSIC, Brent CCG 4. Manage a team of staff through day to day line management, supervision and appraisal, to ensure best practice and patient care. 5. Lead on clinical audit and research within the specialist area. 6. Support the wider operations of STARRS, in line with managerial structure and planning 7. Provide the highest standard of evidence based care to patients within their own home, working with agreed management care plans and protocols. 8. Undertake and manage the comprehensive assessment, planning, implementation, evaluation and auditing of clinical care provision in patients own home. 9. In collaboration with the nurse lead and manager take responsibility of the day-to-day smooth running of the service and act up as the senior staff member in his/her absence. 10. Act as a resource for patients/carers, colleagues, GPs and other agencies. This will involve teaching and presentations.

    1. HCPC registration 2. Experience of working in the community and excellent communication skills 3. Registered Car driver with Clean UK License (the Trust has a lease car facility available).
