Full Job Description

This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced, dynamic and enthusiastic Occupational Therapist to join our Trauma and Orthopaedics Therapy Team . The post is based at James Cook University Hospital but the post holder will be required to work on occasion at the Friarage Hospital Northallerton. This post offers development in clinical and leadership skills and the post holder will be supported to attend relevant post graduate courses. We have an established an comprehensive training programme and our staff are encouraged and supported in their CPD through workshops, clinical supervision and the appraisal process. There is also an expectation to actively participate in audit and research and the Hospital has close links with both the University of Teesside and Durham University. The post is based at James Cook University Hospital but there is a requirement for some ward work and clinics to be done at the Friarage Hospital Northallerton., The leadership and improvement programme aims to:

  • Explore leadership within the NHS
  • Promote Trust values and behaviours
  • Develop your leadership effectiveness and skills
  • Equip staff with the necessary knowledge and skills to lead and complete service improvements within the scope of your role.
  • After you complete these six and a half days of training you will be able to explore further leadership and improvement training opportunities. We also offer a range of additional in-house and externally provided courses and bitesize programmes through our Leadership and Improvement Team.

    The post holder will be expected to have experience in the occupational therapy assessment and management of Trauma and Orthopaedic patients and have gained experience across a variety of specialties. You will be required hold a complex caseload of patients with multiple pathologies. The post holder will be required to act as a highly specialised resource to other professionals and provide supervision to more junior staff, assistants and students. The ability to travel independently is also an essential part of this post as you may need to conduct community access visits and work on occasion at the Friarage Hospital Northallerton. Successful candidate must have access to a vehicle for work purposes to meet the requirements of the role
