  • We have an opportunity for you, an enthusiastic Occupational Therapist with strong interest in working as one of our therapist within a welcoming and dynamic therapy team at QVH. This position has become available due to an internal promotion. If you are successfully appointed to this role you will be eligible for a two stage New Starter Premium of £1500 in total. You will receive £500 on the 6 month anniversary of your start date and another £1000 on the one year anniversary of your start date. Bank staff and returners to the Trust within 12 months are not eligible for the New Starter Premium. You must have excellent clinical skills, be proactive and self-motivated, but most importantly have a passion for maintaining high standards of care for our patients. You will assess and treat a joint caseload of burns, plastics (Surgical patients such as: Amputee's, skin cancers, eye ) and head and neck patients both as inpatients on our critical care unit, high dependency unit and three wards and as outpatients in order to maximise patient recovery and function. You will attend daily handover meetings, weekly in-service training and regular MDT meetings. You will work closely with our discharge coordinator team to facilitate safe and timely discharges for our inpatients. The Burns, Plastics and Head and Neck OT/PT team at QVH consists of 10 individuals, 7 therapists and 3 rehabilitation assistants with extended skills in pressure garment fabrication. To provide a high standard Occupational Therapy service to a specialist caseload of complex burns, plastics and head and neck patients. This may include conservatively and surgically treated paediatric/adult patients. Interventions may occur in the Occupational Therapy department, Wards, Theatres, CCU and Outpatient Clinics. To provide comprehensive Occupational Therapy assessments and treatments to patients with diverse presentations and complex physical and psychological conditions. To gain consent to develop and deliver individualised treatment programmes. To participate in the therapy team training and audit programme. To deliver patient centred rehabilitation within the multi-disciplinary team maximising patient recovery and function. To assess functional issues to enable the safe discharge of complex patients.
