Full Job Description
The Traffic & Flood Risk Management Service area seeks to deliver an excellent customer focused service in an efficient, effective, and economic manner, with specific focus of the Council's role as the Highway Authority whilst adhering to Corporate, Departmental and Government priorities. This post will work under the supervision of the Technical Lead and the primary purpose is to assess, design and deliver traffic management projects and help deliver the Highway Authorities statutory duties under the Traffic Management Act 2004. You will be involved with the preparation of Traffic Regulation Orders and have the skills to explain contentious and complicated highway proposals demonstrating diplomacy, accountability, and approachability in an ever-changing work environment. We are looking for a proactive and efficient individual, who can put citizens and customers first and work with a range of internal and external stakeholders. They must also be organised and have excellent communication skills to ensure that the outputs of the service area are maintained to professional standards.
- A working experience of current practice for the design, construction, and successful delivery of Traffic Management schemes.
- Has an understanding of Traffic Regulation Orders and associated highway legislation.
- Can develop rounded, inclusive, transparent plans that are focused on citizen outcomes, maintain a sense of fairness - and represent value-for-money highway schemes
- Can understand and undertake budget management processes, procurement procedures and contract/commissioning processes to achieve effective service delivery
- A can-do attitude and willingness to learn and understand complex highway processes
- Ability to work and collaborate with a wide range of stakeholders from multiple organisations and experience of handling conflict and managing sensitive issues to achieve positive outcomes
