Do you want to make a difference to people's lives?, Whilst delivering a busy elective programme, we also provide a trauma and On Call service for our Ophthalmology patients. We are committed to staff development and ensure that staff are trained across all sub specialities to ensure we are able to deliver safe and effective care to all.

The successful applicant will be leading and supporting the Eye Day unit team. The role of a Band 6 within the department is a specialised and extremely interesting and rewarding role. You will be directly impacting on the quality of care we provide to patients undergoing a surgical procedure.

As the Band 6 you will be an active member of the theatre and ward team in a designated highly specialist area without supervision as appropriate using all forms of knowledge, skills and experience required to be able to undertake the duties competently such as check the instruments and implants for the list and any other equipment that is necessary and ensure safe skill mix within your area.

You will be expected to demonstrate a high level of communication and relationship skills promoting and maintaining effective liaison throughout the team and with the wider multidisciplinary team.

Support the Co-ordinator in the effective and efficient management of the unit, which will include liaising with Theatre, Recovery and Ward area about amendments or changes to lists, informing all relevant members of the team and the Co-ordinator of the above.
